Wright On Time
Following their shock departure from Europe every one expected Manchester United go tearing there way in the Premireship but david Moyeses men showed that they can be delt with and arent the fear factor that they were.
United were without Ruud Van Nistelroy so Luis Saha was given the nodd and Everton were without Andy Van Der Meyde, Nigel Martyn, Tim Cahill and Mikel Arteta. Richard Wright was to be given his first start of the season.
Everton and United both looked bright but it was the away side Everton who struck the first blow with a great goal by James McFadden who beat Van Der Sar at his near post from an acute angle. Van Der Sar should have done better but nobody on Merseyside was complaing.
However Ryan Giggs reminded us that he can score in the Premireship when he converted from a great ball over the top by Scholes with a flick of his left foot gave Richard Wright no chance.
United really got the taste of the game after this and Wright made a few brilliant saves stopping Rooney scoring with his head, foot and Chest. Wright had said before the game that he would do his best to try and become the regular Keeper instead of Nigel Martyn and he could become that very soon.
The blues hung on and in the last minuite Manchester United wetre given a free kick right on the edge of the area. Giggs took it and Wright made what could be the save of the season to stop it.
Final Score : Manchester United 1-1 Everton
footy Weekly Man of the Match : Richard Wright
Newcastle v Arsenal
Arsenal were given a tough test at Saint James's Park when Nolberto Solano scored the only goal of the game. If Shay Given was payed per save he would be the richest Footballer around today. He superbly saved a number of goal bound shots from the usual big guns of Arsenal but not even Henry could find the back of the net.
Parker had been outstanding for Newcastle, and he almost broke the deadlock with a long-range drive. But he then appeared to suffer damage to his teeth in a collision with Arsenal keeper Jens Lehmann. He struggled on bravely but eventually had to be substituted, with Lee Bowyer coming on.
Solano's goal came late on and the newcastle fans nearly died when they heard that there was to be 5 minuites of added time but they hung on and on untill the whistle confirmed there win.
